Although the winter holidays seem to be popping up everywhere in stores, fall is alive and well in Tampa Bay. With the holiday season approaching, this season’s celebrations are all about enjoying this beautiful weather and making the most of the wonderful community in which we live!
Fall is the perfect time to see a Florida favorite – manatees! Apollo Beach is just a short drive from Waterleaf, but it also happens to be the best place in all of Tampa Bay to view these gentle giants. Starting in November, manatees seek refuge from the colder waters at the Manatee Viewing Center at the Beg Bend Power Station, which has been designated a state and federally protected manatee sanctuary. Visit the park and learn about manatees and their ecosystem daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
Historic Ybor City kicks off the holiday season a little early with their annual tree lighting ceremony on November 18th. Enjoy carolers and complimentary hot chocolate as the city counts down to the spectacular lighting of the giant 34-foot tree in Centro Ybor.
At Busch Gardens, see the park in a whole new way at the 2nd annual Run for Wildlife 5K on November 21st. Participants run through the park for the 3.1 mile course with animals and character appearances along the way! Proceeds from the race benefit the Busch Gardens Conservation Fund, which helps conservation, education and research efforts across the globe. Plan to stay the day, because all race participants receive free entry to Busch Gardens after the race!
With so much to do for all ages in Tampa Bay, we hope all of our Waterleaf residents are making the most of this wonderful Florida fall weather. Know of any other enjoy the outdoors in Tampa Bay? Share them on our Facebook page!
